Fault core of Northern Boundary Fault
This image has been viewed 234 times.
Description:
The Northern Boundary Fault's core is a prominent morphological feature of the Hayl al Shaz area. Jurrasic limestones on the left (northern) side are juxtaposed to Upper Cretaceous rocks of the Shu'aiba Formation. This is a normal offset of approximately 800m. Note the fault core being a rigid wall in the front and in the background, where thick strata packages are tilted. The fault is heavily cemented and full of calcite veins. Viewing direction of the image is East.
